l’équipe d’essais cliniques de phase précoce d’innovation cancer nouvelle-aquitaine (cia) a été créée avec la nomination du professeur antoine italiano à la présidence du groupe "experimental cancer therapeutics" en 2010. l’équipe a ensuite connu une expansion importante avec la nomination de trois autres consultants universitaires à temps plein et médecins en oncologie médicale. l’équipe travaille en étroite collaboration avec des scientifiques cliniciens à travers un centre possédant une expertise spécifique dans tous les types de tumeurs solides (site principal : institut bergonié), incluant : cancers du sein, thoraciques, œsophagien, pancréatique, prostate, ovaires, sarcomes, hémopathies malignes et pédiatrie (sites satellites : centre hospitalier universitaire de bordeaux). une équipe d’infirmières de recherche et de chercheurs cliniciens travaille sur un vaste ensemble d’études et fournit une expertise en matière de gestion des patients et de conformité du protocole - tout cela à l’aide d’une méthode de saisie systématique des données qui engendre un haut niveau de fiabilité. au total, l’équipe actuelle compte plus de 60 personnes et travaille en étroite collaboration dans des installations modernes, notamment un service de jour et des lits pour malades hospitalisés offrant à nos patients un accès à des installations de recherche de pointe, accessibles 24h, 24 et 7j, 7. l’équipe de la cia possède une expérience certaine dans la réalisation d’essais portant sur des molécules diverses et sur une vaste gamme de cibles en oncologie. notre priorité est d'offrir à tous les patients cancéreux (adultes et enfants) de la nouvelle-aquitaine un large accès à des stratégies thérapeutiques innovantes grâce à une collaboration étroite avec les sociétés de biotechnologie et pharmaceutiques et de développer également des études translationnelles menées par des chercheurs locaux. pour atteindre cet objectif, l'équipe est organisée en trois sites principaux pour : - tumeurs solides adultes : institut bergonié (bordeaux, responsable : pr antoine italiano), - malignités hématologiques chez l’adulte : centre hospitalier universitaire de bordeaux (responsable: pr noël milpied), - oncologie pédiatrique : centre hospitalier universitaire de bordeaux (responsable : dr stéphane ducassou). au total, l’institut bergonié et l’hôpital universitaire de bordeaux offrent à la cia early phase unit core tous les équipements et services nécessaires pour répondre aux exigences des études de recherche de phase 1 et de phase précoce. de plus, pour faire face au développement réussi des premières activités de recherche clinique, pour s'adapter à la charge supplémentaire et à la complexité que ce travail représente, nos institutions ont démontré leur flexibilité et leur capacité à adapter le nombre et le type de personnel de recherche.

the cancer innovation nouvelle-aquitaine (cia) early phase clinical trials team was established with the appointment of professor antoine italiano as chair of experimental cancer therapeutics in 2010. the team underwent then significant expansion with the appointment of three further, full time university academic consultant medical oncology physicians. the team works closely with clinical translational scientists across the centre with specific expertise in all types of solid tumors (main site: institut bergonié) including: breast, thoracic cancer, esophageal, pancreatic, prostate, ovarian cancers, sarcomas as well hematological malignancies and pediatric cancers (satellite sites: university hospital center of bordeaux). a team of research nurses and clinical fellows work across the broad portfolio of studies, providing expertise in patient management and protocol compliance. by taking a systematic approach to data capture, data entry is highly compliant and the team is trialing real time data entry. overall, the current team comprises more than 60 staff and work closely in modern facilities which includes a dedicated day ward and inpatient beds providing our patients with access to state of the art 24, 7 research facilities. the cia team has experience in delivering trials of both small and large molecules across a broad range of oncology targets, including first in class or first in man studies. our priority is to offer to all cancer patients (adults and children) from the nouvelle-aquitaine region a large access to innovative therapeutic strategies through a close collaboration with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and to develop as well investigator-led studies translating science from local researchers. to achieve this goal, the team is organized through three main sites for: - adult solid tumors : institut bergonié (bordeaux, head : pr antoine italiano) - - adult hematogical malignancies: univeristy hospital centre of bordeaux (head: pr noël milpied)- - pediatric oncology: university hospital centre of bordeaux (head: dr stéphane ducassou). altogether institute bergonié and bordeaux university hospital offers to the cia early phase unit core all the facilities and services that are needed to meet the unique, demanding requirements of phase 1 and early phase research studies. moreover, in order to cope with the successful development of the early clinical research activity, our institutions have demonstrated their flexibility and their capacity to adapt the number and type of research staff to the workload and the complexity of this specific work.
